Our thanks go out to everyone, who has responded to our Spring Appeal. You are
partners in the success achieved by our women!
We’ve told you often that INNterim gives women the hope they need to move forward, and
equips them for success and an independent life. But we think this letter to our
Executive Director, from a resident who is getting ready to move out, says it better
than we ever could. We know L.D. will succeed!

Dear Ms. Carole,
It is with great happiness that I make this announcement: I have found me a permanent place of residence and will be departing INNterim on June 5, 2004. When I first came to INNterim on October 31, 2001 I had a trash bag and one tote full of toys and clothes for my daughter. I was struggling to make ends meet. I had tons and tons of unpaid bills. I was almost $30,000 in debt and I was only 22 years old. I had a job, but it didn’t offer much pay or benefits. My self-esteem was at ground level. I had feeling of despair, believing that I would never make it. But I did … by the grace of God, I made it! I’ve learned to take one day at a time and to let God handle my troubles. I’m no longer struggling to make ends meet. I’m sacrificing for my daughter and me so that we can have a better future. I am now 24 ½ years old and have paid down $17,000 of my debt. It was hard, but I hung in there and made those phone calls to those creditors and pleaded my case. I have a great job with excellent benefits and have finally gone back to school. My self-esteem is now high. I believe in myself now. I believe I can do it. I can make it.
I want to take this time to thank INNterim for all that it has done for my daughter and me. I want to thank INNterim for providing a roof to put over me and my daughter’s head. It has been a blessing. I want to thank you for showing me how to save. I want to thank you for all those endless workshops (even though I moaned and complained about them.) I want to thank you for providing educational and creative activities for my daughter. To make a long story short, I just want to thank INNterim for everything. Without you, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
It was a long and hard road, but I’ve finally made it. I still have a long road ahead of me, but I’m ready for it.
