INNterim was one of several charities in the region who benefited from
the Verizon Mid-Atlantic Network Planning and Engineering ChariTee golf
tournament held in June 2004. In October, executives from Verizon Mid-Atlantic
Network Planning and Engineering presented a check to INNterim from
proceeds of the tournament. Their gift supported services for INNterim residents.

Women who completed the Nurturing Parenting Course were honored in a

In December residents received gifts from St. Thomas Church of Garrison
Forest, Union Bethel AME and Lockheed-Martin. Individuals from the community
helped children make presents for their Moms and played Santa at INNterim
House and INNterim Apartments. We are grateful to all for making it a
happy holiday season at INNterim. |

We welcome Samantha Ludlam, graduating Senior at Towson University, as our intern
this winter and spring. Samantha who majors in psychology and sociology will be
assisting staff at INNterim House and INNterim Apartments. |

Wow, 1,233 books! That’s what Executive Director Ca Sandra D. Winchester
(last on right) and Program Director Angela Hull (2nd from left) received
from Verizon employees through their annual Verizon Reads program which
promoted literacy. Over 400 new books were purchased and the rest were
gently used. Our moms and children will enjoy reading books shelved in
our library, and will get to keep books of their own. Thanks to (from
left to right) Eugene Williams, Director of Network Engineering, Debbie
Thomas, Melissa Techentin and Bernadette Matthews who purchased, collected
and delivered the books to INNterim.
Verizon employees Annie Claiborne, Sarai Butler, Lester Johnson, Deana Perry,
Malkia Hensen, Oladele Adedoyin, and Allison Thomas have volunteered as
“Verizon Readers” at INNterim Apartments and will have bi-weekly reading
sessions with the children. This is the second year Verizon Readers have
volunteered at INNterim.
